CHURCH COVENANT
Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, we do now in the presence of God, angels, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.
We engage therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit to walk together in Christian love. To strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge, holiness, and comfort, to promote its prosperity and spirituality, to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines. To contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel throughout all nations.
We also engage to maintain family and secret devotion, to religiously educate our children, to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances, to walk circumspectly in the world, to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger; to abstain from the sale and use of intoxicating drinks as a beverage, and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Saviour.
We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love, to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling, and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the rules of our Saviour to secure it without delay.
We moreover engage that when we remove from this place, we will as soon as possible unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God's word.
Humbly confessing our past sins, we pray for forgiveness, grace, and strength to keep these, our holy vows, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. And now unto Him who brought again from the dead, our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you perfect in every good work to do His will, working in you that which is well pleasing in His sight, thorough Jesus Christ to whom be glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

BIBLE STUDY CLASS
For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather Here at the Central Baptist Church of Camp Springs, we make Bible Study a priority. We offer multiple classes at noon, evening, and alternating Saturdays to cover a number of Bible principles. It is a priority because the Bible reads, “
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (II Timothy 2:15).” “The Bible reads, round them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear (II Timothy 4:3).”
Please join us on Wednesday, as we study the Word of God so we can do what God has instructed us to do, which is to make disciples. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Matthew 28:19

INFANT BLESSING
At Central Baptist Church of Camp Springs, we follow the principles found in 1 Samuel 1:11, 26-28, where Hannah was barren and asked the Lord for a child. "And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head."
When God blessed her to conceive and weaned her son Samuel, she dedicated him to the Lord. Therefore, we have a special prayer to dedicate the baby back to the Lord.
"And she said, O my Lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the Lord. For this child I prayed and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of him; Therefore also I have lent him to the Lord; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the Lord. And he worshipped the Lord there."
At Central Baptist Church, your infant child is welcome to be blessed and dedicated back to the Lord. Please use the infantblessingrequestform to arrange your baby's blessing.
May God Bless You and Your New Child.
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Lincoln M. Burruss, Jr.

MEMBERS/STEPS FOR ACCEPTING CHRIST
MEMBERSThe first step in accepting Jesus Christ is to acknowledge that we are all sinners saved by God’s Grace. Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Jesus paid the price for our sins. Romans 10:13 – For whosoever shall call upon the
STEPS FOR ACCEPTING CHRIST
The first step in accepting Jesus Christ is to acknowledge that we are all sinners saved by God’s Grace.
Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
Jesus paid the price for our sins. Romans 10:13 – For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
We need to acknowledge that we were born in sin because of what happened back in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve, with their disobedience to God. Sin is what brings death and separation from God. Sin also means missing the mark. The mark that we all should be aiming to is God. Once we acknowledge that we were born into sin, then we should call upon the name of Jesus, to be saved and have eternal life.
Grace simply means God’s unmerited favor. If we did anything to earn it or deserve it, it’s not Grace. If God owes it to us because we’ve been a good person, or we’ve tried to do the best we can, it is not Grace. Grace means that we get the opposite of what we deserve. We deserve God’s wrath because we have sinned against Him. Instead, He saves us by His Grace. Grace is the favor of God, founded upon His Holiness. Through Grace, Salvation is freely given by God to undeserving sinners. Grace is a gift from God – Salvation is indeed the most extraordinary expression of God’s Grace. It’s by Grace we are saved.
Accepting Jesus Christ into our lives and asking Him to cleanse us of our sins is the only true way to live an eternal life in Heaven.
The second step in accepting Jesus Christ is to have faith and believe that God loves us so that He sent His only begotten son that we can have everlasting life.
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
God sent His only begotten Son to die in our place and to take away our sins.
We receive forgiveness through faith in the blood and death of Jesus Christ.
God had so much love for us that He sent His only begotten Son (Jesus, a perfect man without sin) to die for our sins, so that we could have everlasting life.
Salvation comes through the faith and belief in God’s revealed purpose in His Son who dies for all. Faith and belief in Jesus Christ is the only avenue to receiving the gift of Salvation.
God sent His Son to pay the price for all so that we can be forgiven and saved from the punishment of Hell. Jesus died in our place. He did all this because He is a loving God, He provided the only escape way.
We believe and have faith that He is the Son of God and that He came to die for us. We know that He rose from the dead and have complete Victory over death. We should open up our hearts and invite him to take over our lives.
No matter what we have done, no matter how unworthy we think we are, He still loves us and wants us to come to know Him. Won’t you accept God’s perfect gift of Love? It’s been paid in full.
The third step in accepting Jesus Christ is to repent of our sins and accept the Lord
Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. Acts 3:19 – Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.
Repentance is not just saying, I’m sorry. “It’s turning away from the sin that separates us from God; reaching out, instead, to receive God’s forgiveness and the new life He offers”. Repentance is necessary for Salvation (Acts 3:19). Repentance put our action to our words.
We must repent and ask God for forgiveness this means to acknowledge our sins and to be sorry for our sins and to confess our sins. The Bible declares that “He is faithful and Just to forgive us.”
We must first acknowledge within ourselves that we have sinned before God and come short of His glory. We must confess our sins unto Him. True repentance will result in a change in our actions.
We must change our way of thinking and turn away from our old ways and hear and believe as: “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17).
Once we understand that we are sinners and that all have sinned, we need to turn to Jesus Christ for forgiveness by repenting and turning from our way to Gods way.
The fourth step in accepting Jesus Christ is to confess and accept Him into our hearts.
Romans 10:9-10 – That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Vs. – 10: For the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Jesus paid the highest price for us and because He loves us more than we could ever imagine, He was put to death by being crucified on the Cross.
God’s word promises, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt and will be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall and will be saved (Romans 10:9-10;13).”
When we accept Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, God comes to live within us (the Holy Spirit). Our body becomes His Temple, His abode, and an inner Chamber.
By His Grace, God has already done everything to provide salvation to us. Our part is to simply believe and receive.
The very moment we commit our lives to Jesus Christ, the truth of His Word instantly comes to pass in our spirit. Once we’ve accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior we become a new creature in Jesus Christ whereby old things are passed away and behold all things become new.
Once we accept Him as our personal Lord and Savior He then becomes the Savior and Ruler of our lives.

WEDDINGS
At Central Baptist Church of Camp Springs, we believe the institution of marriage is between man and a woman. This is recorded in Genesis 2:23-24: "And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called woman because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."
God created man and then made woman to complement him. Marriage is God’s way of ensuring that man is not alone. In his word Genesis 2:18 it reads "And the Lord God said, it is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him."
If you desire to use Central Baptist Church of Camp Springs as your wedding/reception venue, please use the weddingrequestform to reserve the church for your special day.
Congratulations and May God Bless You!
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Lincoln M. Burruss, Jr.

REV. PARKER CANCER AWARENESS
President: Bro. Leon Turner
Vice-President: Sis. Lillian Dillard
Secretary: Sis. Ruth Royster
Assistant Secretary: Sis. Rosalyn Watson
Chaplin: Deacon Carl Linton
MISSION
The ministry is established to educate, enlighten, and promote church and community cancer awareness and prevention through proactive education methods. The program is also designed for informational purposes, assistance for those with concerns, testimonials, and to provide church support for members and families who have been diagnosed with cancer and cancer survivors. The ministry has been established in the memory of the beloved Reverend John H. Parker, who died from cancer on February 12, 2012.
PURPOSE
Develop and implement education and support strategies. The volunteers are not “medical professionals” and are not affiliated with any medical entities; however, we will solicit medical professionals and other speakers to share information with the church members and community on the various types of cancers and related details. Personal information and medical histories will be kept in strict confidence.
Our primary goal is to raise church and community awareness about cancer, treatment and prevention. This includes various types of cancer: breast, lung, prostate, ovarian, throat, colon-rectal, etc. We plan to provide specific projects: church support groups, presentations by various cancer support organizations, and provide support resources for members dealing with cancer through group sessions, cancer prevention practices (exercise, diet/nutrition, routine exams, etc.), In addition to making our new church ministry available to those in needs, we also intend to ask our church clergy to be available, especially if you choose to discuss your feelings or concerns privately. We will also inform you of the various cancer services available: cancer support organizations, local caregivers, community partners and the Affordable Care Health Plan (Obama Care) that covers all types of cancer, pre-existing conditions, and many other preventive treatments.
Monthly Meeting Date: every fourth Saturday from Noon – 2 p.m., beginning August 23, 2014
Major planned spiritual events for the spiritual growth and edification of the body of Christ at Central Baptist Church of Camp Springs, MD:
- Church “Cancer Awareness Day”
- Updated Information/Handouts and Available Resources/Organizations
MAJOR KILLERS
PROSTATE CANCER
Did you know that one of the more common cancers that affect men is prostate cancer? Prostate cancer is a disease that occurs when malignant (cancer) cells grow in the tissues of the prostate. Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer that causes death in men after lung cancer. It is a deadly disease that affects African-American men more than any other race.
In 2007, there were 218, 890 new cases of prostate cancer diagnosed within the United States. In 2012, that number increased to 241, 740 new cases. The National Cancer Institute estimated that in 2013, there were 238, 590 new cases of prostate cancer in the U.S. – the numbers are declining because of early detection and prevention.
The above span of years and numbers illustrates how much prostate cancer has risen over a 6 year period. This is a very serious and deadly disease if gone untreated. 1 in 5 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime; however, the good news is that only 1 in 34 men will die of the disease thanks to early detection and treatment.
To date, there are 1.8 million men in the United States that are cancer survivors and the National Cancer Institute estimates that 2,617,682 men live with prostate cancer in the United States.
BREAST CANCER
Did you know that the most common type of breast cancer is Ductal Carcinoma which begins in the lining of the milk ducts (thin tubes that carry milk from the lobules of the breast to the nipples)? Another type of breast cancer is Lobular Carcinoma which begins in the lobules (milk glands) of the breasts. Also, inflammatory breast cancer is an uncommon type of cancer in which the breasts become red, swollen, and warm. The most invasive type of breast cancer is that which has spread from the breast ducts or lobules to surrounding normal tissue. Importantly, breast cancer can occur in both women and men, although male breast cancer is rare. Most people are also unaware that there is a correlation between prostate cancer cells and breast cancer cells. In 2013, there were 232,340 new cases of female breast cancer and 2,240 men were diagnosed with the disease in the United States. Currently, there are 39,620 women and 410 men who died from this disease in the United States. The good news is that the overall cancer death rates continue to decline in the United States among men and women because of early detection and treatment.
The committee will request breast cancer survivors to come and discuss their journey and offer tips and advice to help others cope with the challenges of recovery. The cancer program as with any new program will make changes and update the program to better serve the needs of our church family and community.

There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: (NKJV)

Our purpose is to minister to the needs of all women by encouraging spiritual growth through the study of God’s Word; building relationships that support and uplift physically and emotionally; and empowering all women as servants of God in their homes, the church, the community and the world.
Every month on the first Saturday, we meet for our Saturday Morning Fellowship from 8-10a.m. Come and experience the transforming presence of God as we study and pray together, worship together and praise God for His many blessings!
Working Together…
We can and will achieve great things by working together. For more information on how you can get involved, send an email to our address listed above. We welcome your ideas on how we can best serve the needs of all women in every season of life.

YOUTH
Chairperson: Rev. Justin Williams, Youth Pastor
Age Range: 2 to 18
Mission: The Youth Ministry is a part of the total ministry of the church. It is built upon a foundation of biblical faith and seeks to carry the message of salvation—God’s plan to save you from sin—in appropriate ways to all youth. The Youth Ministry attempts to point youth toward God and strives to help them become involved in the Great Commission. The Great Commission requires each of us as Christians to make disciples or followers of Christ; to observe all that Jesus commanded and to witness for Christ through the power of God’s Holy Spirit throughout the world.
Purpose: The Youth Ministry recognizes that the spiritual part of life cannot be separated from the other aspects of life. The physical, mental, social and emotional development of a person has a great deal to do with one’s spiritual development. Therefore, the Youth Ministry Program consists of the following:
Bible Study
Discussions on specific topics
Teen rap sessions
Seminars, arts, and crafts
Bible Trivia/Draw Your Sword Competitions
Trips and tours
Roller/ice skating
Self-development activities
Lock-ins and retreats
Plays and skits
Potluck dinners, pizza night
Praise night
Basketball, volleyball and other activities
The Youth Ministry also conducts a weekly Summer-in-the-Parking Lot*. Each year in June, a Youth Recognition Service is held to recognize the accomplishments of the youth in school, church and the community. The Youth Ministry also recognizes other persons who are not members of CBCCS but have actively participated in the Youth Ministry throughout the year.
While the Youth Ministry is for all children and teens at Central Baptist Church of Camp Springs, their parents, other family members, friends, and neighbors are welcome to participate.
Monthly Meeting Dates: Second and fourth Friday (September- June)
Meeting Time: 7:00- 9:00 p.m.
Annual Day: Second Sunday in June – Youth Recognition Day
*During the months of July and August, the Youth Ministry meets for Summer-in-the-Parking Lot from 6:00 p.m. until dusk.
