CBCCS Honors Resurrection Week

"Resurrection week" or Holy Week commemorates the events leading up to Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection starting with Palm Sunday and culminating in Easter Sunday or Resurrection Sunday.

  • Palm Sunday:
Marks Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem, where people welcomed him with palm branches.
  • Holy Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday:
These days are often marked by reflection and prayer, with Holy Wednesday sometimes remembered as "Spy Wednesday" for Judas's betrayal.
  • Maundy Thursday:
Commemorates the Last Supper, where Jesus instituted the Eucharist, and the washing of the disciples' feet.

    Good Friday:
Marks the day of Jesus' crucifixion, a day of solemn reflection and remembrance of his suffering.
  • Holy Saturday (Black Saturday):
A day of silence and reflection, where believers meditate on Christ's death and the promise of his resurrection, with some traditions preparing for Easter with decorations and candle blessings.
  • Easter Sunday or Resurrection Sunday:
Celebrates the resurrection of Jesus, the central tenet of Christian faith
